911 Kit INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

 

 


1. REMOVE MIRRORS – DISCONNECT ELECTRIC PLUG.

2. TAKE BOTTOM TWO OEM POSTS OFF ( OR ALL -IF YOU HAVE 3 MAGNET SYSTEM) ..USE A - 13MM DEEP SOCKET OR WRENCH

3.REMOVE THE BOTTOM TWO CLIPS FROM MIRROR.( OR ALL FOR 3 MAGNET SYSTEM)

4. A) INSTALL METAL PLATES WITH BEVEL SIDE SHOWING - THE BLACK EDGE GOES AT FRONT ( POINTED END OF MIRROR) THE WHITE EDGED ONE GOES IN BY THE BACK ( GLASS END) - USE THE SCREWS PROVIDED. USE A #1 (SMALL) PHILLIPS SCREWDRIVER – DON’T OVERTIGHTEN THE SCREWS – DO NOT USE A DRILL WITH A BIT ...

5. NOW YOU PUT ON THE MAGNETS. TO ASSEMBLE THEM , THE BEVELED SIDE FACES YOU , PUT A BOLT THRU THE HOLE, PUT A SPACER ON THE BOLT, USING EITHER LOWER HOLE , PUT BOLT IN AND TIGHTEN ONLY UNTILL IT STOPS , NOW BACK OFF 1/4 TURN - SO THE MAGNET CAN " ROCK " ON THE SPACER, THIS IS BECAUSE THE MIRROR AND THE SURFACE OF THE SPYDER BODY IS NOT EXACTLY FLAT TO EACH OTHER .... THE ROCKING WILL FIX THAT ISSUE . DO THE OTHER MAGNET/S THE SAME WAY.

6. THE SMALL BLK METAL PIECE WITH THE CORD ( 300 LB STRENGTH ) WILL PREVENT THE MIRROR FROM EVER HITTING THE GROUND IF THE MIRROR COMES LOOSE ( I DON'T THINK IT CAN BUT THIS IS - INSURANCE ) , THE TETHER CAN BE 4 INCHES BUT I THINK 2 IN. SO THERE ARE -TWO KNOTS. I RECOMMEND 3-4 INCHES. REMOVE THE TOP OEM PLASTIC DISK FROM THE MIRROR.PLACE EITHER KNOT IN THE RELIEF AREA NEAR THE TOP.  PUT THE DISC BACK – THE DISC WILL KEEP THE KNOT SECURE. IF YOU HAVE THE 3 MAG.SYSTEM USE A METAL DISC ( THE ONE WITH 4 HOLES ) NOW LOOSEN THE T-30 TORX BOLT AT THE TOP ...YOU PUT THE SMALL METAL PIECE IN BETWEEN THE TWO BODY PARTS ... SLIDE THE PIECE IN WITH THE SLOT TOWARS THE FRONT OF THE SPYDER , THE ROUND PART WILL GO ONTO THE BOLT UNDERNEATH . TIGHTEN THE BOLT ... RE-ATTACH THE ELECTRIC PLUG ....

NOW YOU PUT THE MIRROR ON & OFF “EXACTLY” THE WAY BRP SAYS TO DO IT... IF THIS IS THE LEFTSIDE MIRROR .. PUT YOUR HAND ON THE RIGHT SIDE CLOSE TO THE BODY AND GRASP THE MIRROR ... THEN YOU HIT THE CORNER (MODERATELY) STRAIGHT UP TO REMOVE.... THIS METHOD WILL PREVENT BREAKING THE PLASTIC DISC INSIDE .... TO PUT IT ON – PUT THE TOP CLOSE TO THE BODY OF THE SPYDER SO THE MIRROR IS ALMOST VERTICAL. PUSH DOWN SO THE OEM PLASTIC CLIP SLIDES ONTO OEM POST (THIS IS HOW BPR DOES IT).

THE 3 MAGNET SYSTEM IS DONE THE SAME WAY .... BECAUSE I MADE THIS SYSTEM WITH NO EXTRA SPACE BETWEEN THE PARTS (VERY CLOSE TOLERENCES ) YOU MAY HAVE TO WIGGLE THE BOTTOM OF THE MIRROR ASSEMBLY UNTIL THE MAGNETS LINE UP. YOU MIGHT HEAR THEM CLICK WHEN THEY ARE SECURE.

I HAD MY MAGNETS MADE TO MY SPECIFICATIONS ( NOT OFF THE SHELF ) AFTER MANY TESTS THEY ARE STRONG ENOUGH ( PLUS ) TO KEEP THE MIRROR SECURE. I HAD CONCERNS THAT THE " OTHER PERSONS " SYSTEM WILL EVENTUALLY PULL THE MAGNET BOLTS OUT OF THE BODY PART THEY ARE SCREWED INTO...

SOMETIMES " MORE " IS NOT BETTER.... THE OTHER MIRROR GOES ON EXACTLY THE SAME WAY .... IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS E-MAIL ME Mike ...

If you want to take the mirror off ( for servicing etc. ) the TETHER is easy to remove by just loosening the T-30 bolt and pull the piece up ... you can mention this procedure to the dealer if you are having them work on your Spyder ....

HOWEVER - if they remove the mirror according to BRP's instruction nothing should go wrong ... I designed it to work the proper way ..... Enjoy your New Magnet system ...... Mike
